Decorating a townhouse can be done without breaking the law.

Townhouse renovations, unless they involve additions or alterations, are legal.
According to Section 4 of the Building Control Act B.E. 2522 (1979) (Building Control Act), "modification" means changing, adding, decreasing, or expanding the boundaries, design, shape, proportions, weight, or area of the structure or parts of an existing building, changing them from the original. Similarly, house additions, which are commonly used terms, have the same meaning.
If you're adding a carport roof, adding a side porch, adding a front porch, or adding a kitchen to the back of the house to serve as a Thai kitchen, laundry area, or maid's room, you must be familiar with the requirements of the Building Control Act B.E. 2522 (1979) and thoroughly understand them, as these additions require official permission, a blueprint certified by the architect and construction engineer, and compliance with setback and clearance laws to avoid future problems.
