Thailand's summers are known to be among the hottest in the world, with temperatures soaring every day. Especially during March and April, temperatures plummet, leading to high electricity bills and much-needed air conditioning and fan usage. Many households are left feeling stressed and worried. Today, we've compiled some easy tips to cool your house. Let's take a look!

1. Improve Ventilation

Open up your house to allow airflow. Avoid placing furniture that obstructs airflow. This helps dissipate heat inside the house. Besides allowing cool breezes to flow in and out, it also makes rooms appear larger. You can also close windows on parts of the house where sunlight is coming through.

2. Plant Trees

Add greenery. Trees help reduce heat and increase oxygen in the air, creating shade and coolness in your house. Installing a trellis for climbing plants or hanging plants can also help to combat the heat.

3. Add fountains, waterfalls, overflowing water, or water gardens to your house.

The sound of flowing water will help you feel cool and refreshed, calming your mind and reducing heat at the same time.

4. Use awnings on windows.

These help reduce heat entering the house, saving energy on air conditioning and fans.

5. Install thermal insulation.

This is an attractive option. Besides preventing heat from invading the house, these insulation materials can also absorb sound both inside and outside the house, adding peace and quiet.

6. Install thermal insulation on the ceiling.

For older houses, we don't recommend removing the roof. Some of the hot air entering the house accumulates under the roof. Installing thermal insulation on the ceiling helps.

7. New roof.

Avoid dark-colored roofs as they accumulate heat. The roof slope should not exceed 45 degrees to help shade the other side. Install a roof ventilation system to release heat, making the house cooler and more comfortable.

8. Install sunshades on the sides that receive direct sunlight.

This not only helps block heat but also increases privacy and enhances the aesthetics of the space.

9. Choose translucent curtains.

Thin, light-colored curtains are better than thick, dark-colored ones, which absorb heat. Light-colored curtains allow airflow and do not absorb heat.

10. Install window film (heat-reflective or heat-blocking film) on all windows and doors. This helps cool the house and reduces the need for air conditioning.
