Foreign remittances in Thailand
Statistics from the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Mission in Thailand reveal that the number of foreigners residing in Thailand has increased from 3.7 million in 2014 to 4.9 million in 2018, with the trend continuing to increase each year.
This aligns with the Bank of Thailand's announcement that foreigners' transfers to purchase Thai condominiums have surged following the easing of the COVID-19 situation. In 2022, the figure reached 63.197 billion baht.
Furthermore, the Thai government approved in principle the draft ministerial regulation on land acquisition for residential use by foreigners, allowing foreigners who meet the required criteria to purchase and own real estate in Thailand. The foreigners with the highest remittances were:
